On May 22, 49ers coach Mike Singletary made a comment on suspended QB Michael Vick and indicated that the 49ers did not remove the possibility completely of signing Vick. However, recently 49ers GM just denied the possiblity. He told Sirius NFL Radio that the 49ers has no plan to sign Vick.
“I think what happens there, and I totally respect it, is that people understand who Mike Singletary is,” McCloughan said during a wide-ranging interview on The Sirius Blitz. “And understand that he has no problem giving guys second chances. Coach and I have sat down, we sat down and talked last week. We had an off week of OTAs, and we discussed about Michael Vick. We will not go that route. We will not do it.”
Vick a former Pro Bowler, is currently suspended because of dogfighting charges. He will be released from home confinement by July 20. If he would be cut by the Falcons, he will have to look for a new team willing to accept him.
